NOW RECRUITING FOR OAND SERVICE MEMBERS FOR 2008!

The OAND is currently seeking NDs who are willing to assist the public and the profession! Being a Service Member with the OAND will afford you free membership in the OAND and CAND for the 2008 calendar year, while giving you priority access to the OAND Fall Convention Work Exchange Program and a complimentary registration for the OAND Spring Conference.

The OAND Service Member Program provides opportunities for NDs to be a part of the exciting work of the professional association. Service Members provide a fundamental service to the public and the profession by providing ND referrals and information about naturopathic medicine over the phone and assisting the OAND staff team with various events and office related tasks. Service Members are asked to work one (1) four-hour shift per week at the OAND office.

We are looking for NDs (including recent grads who are in the process of applying for BDDT-N registration) who have excellent telephone and computer skills (preferably Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook), are able to work independently, and are willing to commit to working four (4) hours per week for the 2008 calendar year.

There are many benefits to participating in the Service Member Program. The OAND will pay your OAND and CAND membership fees for the 2008 calendar year and you will have the opportunity to learn about all the programs and services offered by the OAND; you will gain insight into the kinds of issues the public wants assistance with in managing their health; you will be a part of the major events sponsored by the OAND and increase your network of NDs.

This is a wonderful opportunity to develop new skills, become more involved with the naturopathic profession and your professional association! If you are a new graduate, this is a great way to orient yourself to the profession and the association, while obtaining a membership in the two professional associations at no additional out of pocket cost to you.

An orientation is provided for all Service Members. Attendance at the Service Member Orientation is mandatory for all those wishing to participate in the program. This year’s Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at the OAND office. All Service Members will then be expected to attend one (1) four-hour shift during the week of December 17, 2007 to shadow a current Service Member. Regular shifts will begin the first week of January 2008.

Please note the OAND office is located in Toronto at 789 Don Mills Road, just south of Eglinton Avenue, across from the Ontario Science Centre. The OAND office is accessible via public transit by taking the Eglinton bus from the Eglinton subway station or the Don Mills bus from the Pape subway station. Metered parking is also available.

If you are interested in becoming a Service Member for the 2008 calendar year, please submit a completed application form (PDF file) and your resume to Joetha Stoddard, Office Manager, at officemanager@oand.org or by fax to 416-233-2924. We welcome applications from OAND members, as well as non-members. Shifts will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for applications is Friday, December 7, 2007.
